The Lone Star Rally 2003
By: Ms. Misha Morê

The Lone Star Rally had over 85,000 motorcycle participants
with total attendance topping 165,000 people!

The attendance places this Rally not only as the biggest in Texas - over twice as large as ROTRally - but also a strong ranking among the largest Rallies in the U.S.

It was bikes everywhere. From the Strand District, along Seawall Blvd, on Bolivar Peninsula, down to Angleton and Freeport and even over to Kemah/Seabrook where a major Jazz Festival was underway. The Island was able to absorb a massive number of bikes and still avoid the gridlock and traffic snarls common to many large Rallies.

Unlike many Rallies, which are fairly dead come Sunday morning, the crowds just kept coming. At 4 pm Sunday the Causeway leading onto Galveston Island was still a steady stream of bikes headed to the Party.

There were over three thousand entries in the various poker runs, several thousand people took advantage of the opportunity to tour the two US Navy Ships in port for the event. Live music was everywhere with over thirty five band performances in various places during the event - and all without a cover charge.

The Lone Star Rally will be an annual event in Galveston. The dates for next year are Sept. 23-26. The event will continue to be a Free Rally.
